Default Runes to runes dealer.

If I sell runes to a merchant or an item containing runes is sold to a merchant do these get added to the runes dealer? As most runes are not worth salvaging does this affect supply?

They don't get added to the runes dealer.

It does affect things.. but not at "1 per 1"

The more people sell to a npc trader, the cheaper the price becomes.
The more bought from a npc trader, the higher the price becomes.
If there is a huge rush on them, they will be "out of stock".

NPC trader are linked so the Tryia NPC rune trader is linked to the Elona Trader.

Yep... only if they are salvaged out and you sell to the trader do they reappear on the markets... but the fact is people do not like selling to NPCs and eventually Anet injects a few 1000 in the rune trader so its listed again...

that is a RARE occurrence. last time it happened was with absorption runes over a year ago. It was done because of some groups making a huge effort to make sure they stayed high price and never selling to a NPC to prevent it from ever dropping in price.

Basically like the scroll trader or any other trader. if enough of the runes or scrolls are sold back to the NPC it will eventually list it on the market to purchase again. this is why passage scrolls showed up on the scroll trader. AND why when new professions would come in on a new campaign, they often had to wait a month or so for all their runes to become available at the rune trader. so Yes selling those runes for 25 gold each to the NPC DOES SERVE A PURPOSE. Unfortunately selling the unsalvaged rune in armor, does nothing to the market that I know of... it has no correlation... So if you want runes to reappear you either have to bug Anet for an injection of supply, OR people have to sell those runes to an NPC so inventories go up.

Its unfortunate that when the demand is high the rune disappears from the trader list and the buy in value does not adjust when its absent... If the vendor does not have something it means its in demand. so the Vendor price SHOULD go up for that item. Both in cost to buy and cost to sell too them... Its a fundamental flaw in the NPC merchant system. but its been that way since the beginning..

BTW I really really wanted our GH services to be based on the alliances efforts and not the entire games efforts... so If your account had it unlocked in PvP, then you could buy it from your GH services NPC for your PvE characters... Same with runes and dyes and ect... that way when towns and stuff were out of stock your guild could well have some available to them... that was my original concept for those services, but it was designed differently then originally suggested. ;( Oh well ce'la vie...
